A comprehensive landscape master plan is undertaken on the city side leading up to the airport to enhance passenger experience and do justice to Bangalore’s reputation of being a ‘Garden City’ and rich heritage of Karnataka State. There are few limitations which have been taken into account during the design process. Being a functional airport, landscape design needs to have a phased approach in such a way that one can have an instant visual improvement on day one as well as have a long term strategy for the approach. Landscape development also needs to be temporal in nature as the nature and location of the future development is unknown. Total project area is 150 acre. Landscape zone of intervention is 30M from the edge of the present road on each side. Within this landscape zone most of the intervention is in the form of planting or earthwork.

Design Cell has already presented Conceptual Master Plan to BIAL and is presently preparing mock-up drawings for few selected areas.
